Bearded Dragon in Action

Balanced Nutrition for Every Life Stage

Bearded Dragons need the right mix of insects, greens, and supplements. Here’s a breakdown of their diet essentials.

Juvenile Diet

Young dragons need a protein-heavy diet. Feed them mostly live insects like crickets and dubia roaches, supported with small portions of fresh greens for proper growth.

Adult Diet

Mature dragons require more greens than insects. Their diet should be 70% vegetables and leafy greens with 30% live feeders to keep them healthy.

Protein Sources

Crickets, dubia roaches, and occasional worms provide the protein dragons need. Avoid high-fat feeders like mealworms as a regular staple.

Vegetables & Greens

Offer calcium-rich greens like collard, mustard, and dandelion. Rotate safe veggies to provide variety while avoiding harmful foods like spinach and lettuce.

Fruits (Treats Only)

Fruits like blueberries, apples, and mango can be given occasionally in small amounts. They’re high in sugar and should never be a daily food.

Supplements

Calcium and vitamin D3 powders are essential for preventing metabolic bone disease. Light dusting on feeders 3–4 times a week is recommended.

A healthy diet today means a stronger, happier dragon tomorrow.
